(Fijal Maestro  x Rainy Day Girl)

Showjumper

Hosanna was born in May 2000. She had a strange start to life. We had as per normal, brought her dam in each night as she got closer to foaling, but Rainy Day Girl was convinced that it would be much better to foal outside. We checked her early one morning, no sign of imminent foaling, turned her out and thirty minutes later she foaled.  Right at the top of the hill (next to the spring - clever mare, always foal near a water supply).  The other mares went mad, so up the hill we trudged, to find a huge bay filly foal, which we had to carry all the way back down to the stables with concerned Mum following behind. Once inside a quick check showed she was fine, none the worse for being man handled down the hill and another super Maestro and Rainy Day Girl offspring.

We never show foals, but Hosanna couldn't be introduced to the showring as a yearling either because Britain was in the grip of foot and mouth, so she made her debut as a two year old. She was only shown a handful of times and never looked back, standing Champion or Reserve on most occasions, finishing best New Forest and second overall in the Glyn Greenwood Final at PUK and heading the NFPB&CS Elite Scheme, as the Best two Year Old.

She was sold as a three year old and came back here to be broken as a four year old, but by this time due to her owner's ill health she was looking for a new home again. We regretfully had no room for her to stay here, so she moved first on loan to the Ahern's Showing Yard at Keighley and then through an ad in Horse and Hound she finally met her perfect partner..... Alison Pink from Buckinghamshire.

 Driving Pony

Alison and Hosanna have tried their hand succesfully at nearly everything and are having a fantastic time together.  They have competed successfully in hand, ridden, WHP, in showjumping, dressage and now also in private driving. Hosanna is proving that New Forest ponies can really do it all.  Hosanna is truly 'Miss Versatility'.

'Thank you' Alison for giving a lovely pony a very special home. Long may you both enjoy hacking and driving through Windsor Great Park together.
