NPS Summer Champs 2014 - this was Spy's fourth ridden show and Philippa's first attempt at riding him in the grown up novice and intermediate classes; they did incredibly well for two novices together notching up three fourths in good company and two thirds.

Samsons Spy  1st M&M Large Stallions, Reserve Champion and Silver Medal winner (2015) and 1st Reserve Supreme at the lovely Rydale Show; 9th and winner of the Breed Society Rosette for the best New Forest Pony in the NPS open ridden out of 20+. Champion M&M pony at Aldborough and Boroughbridge Show 2014. Also 1st and 2nd in his first dressage competitions with over 67% in both, winning the Prelim 7.

A quick visit to the NCPA Yorkshire Show at Selby today, resulted in a 1st for Samsons Spy in the mixed M&M large breeds class and then a very nice win to take the mixed M&M open championships.

Highfox Felicity at four weeks old. Growing fast and very pretty. A keeper!

Sire - Samsons Spy

Dam - Highfox Evensong

Samsons Spy with his first ribbons on his ridden début at the lovely country show at the fabulous Newby Hall. June 2014.  He behaved impeccably, which was just as well as it was 15 year old Philippa's first time showing and competing on a stallion. He also won the mixed M&M in hand class and stood first reserve overall in hand.  Downside? Yes a few! Three of the worst trophies imaginable (to keep!) and a soggy sash.....he tried to eat the flower!

A lovely day and the sun shone!

Highfox Skyfall, yearling colt by Samsons Spy out of Rainy Day Girl.

Half brother to Soloist to make 13.2/14 hands. Super temperament and movement. A future star. Might be available to an excellent home. Please get in touch if you think you can offer this boy a super, active life!

Now in a lovely new home.

Highfox Soloist has qualified for the SSADL Olympia semi finals at his first attempt, both ridden and in-hand, not always easy for a native. We are loving every minute with the old boy, such a character.

Highfox Evensong has produced the most lovely filly foal by Samsons Spy, bay, two white socks. We are thinking that her name will be Highfox Felicity. She is just what Diane ordered and will not be going anywhere!  Pics to follow.

Highfox Destiny has a lovely new home in Lincolnshire with Tanya Cooper, can't wait to watch her progress. Pictured with Tanya in her new home.

Highfox Soloist winning the Open New Forest Ridden class at the NNFPSG Annual Elite Show. See below.

The NNFPSG Elite Show 2014 was a lovely start to the competition season proper for Highfox Soloist and Philippa Hadwen winning the Open Ridden, the Ridden New Forest Championship and taking the First Reserve Spot in the New Forest Supreme; in addition Sol won the best 138cm trophy for the second year running. They qualified for the NPS Ringside Open Ridden Champs, the Home Produced Champs and the NPS Young Rider Champs. A lovely show and some lovely ponies about.

Highfox Soloist and Philippa Hadwen notched up two firsts and two seconds at their first practice show of the year, qualifying for the Senior Showing Champs in the process.

Highfox Destiny has a new owner and is now backed (by Philippa) and ridden away. She will be leaving us very soon and we are thrilled that she is going to such a fabulous family home.

Highfox Evensong is due to foal any time soon......updates when he/she arrives!

New Forest Pony Breeding Society Elite Scheme -Surprised and pleased to see that Highfox Soloist was placed in the Elite Scheme for 2013, even though he only competed at two Elite shows. It was quite poignant that his late sire Fijal Maestro who died in 2001, was still placed in the elite sire results too.

New Forest Pony Breeding Society, Ringwood Brewery Performance Competition 2013 - WHP TANKARD WINNERS, OWNER BRED TROPHY WINNERS, JUNIOR RIDDEN CHAMPION, 2ND NOVICE PONY AND 4TH OVERALL - Highfox Soloist and Philippa Hadwen.

 2013

November 2013 - Lovely end to the season Highfox Soloist NNFPSG Supreme Pony Performance Champion 2013, Versatility Champion, Junior Champion, winner jumping section, placed ridden, dressage, in-hand and utility.

October 2013

Congratulations once again to Furzley Charaide 3rd in the 143cm WHP at HOYS. Well done to all connections. Always such a good boy.

Unbelievably 12 months ago on the 6th October Highfox Soloist moved back in and we have had a great summer and a lot of fun with this old boy; almost a year to the day another new arrival Trenley Tomorrow has come to join us at Highfox.

Tomorrow is a New Forest x Thoroughbred (Hollybrooke Tinker x Trenley Lawn), bred in Brockenhurst at Ford Farm. We hope he will make a future competition pony. Many thanks to Trudy Nineham and James Young for letting Philippa have this lovely boy as her future project.

September 2013

A lovely day at our local Trophy Show. Philippa and Soloist won both their classes including the open M&M Ridden. They were also Reserve Ridden Champion in Show. Their 9th Reserve Championship of the season.

Our new part-bred has been named, micro-chipped and registered. He is now called Trenley Tomorrow and will be joining us in the next couple of weeks.

August 2013

Highfox Soloist aged 15 and Philippa Hadwen aged 14 at the New Forest Breed Show 2013. A great show for novice pony and his new rider/producer and proof that it is possible to teach an old dog new tricks! They were 3rd in the New Forest Open Ridden ne 138cm, 2nd in the Hunter Pony Ridden not exceeding 153 cm, 2nd in the in Hand Geldings, 4th in the in hand Hunter Pony and Philippa 2nd in a big and competitive young handler section. Also thanks to the Booth family from Devon, who gave Pip an 11th hour ride on their lovely pony Blondie.... they finished a good 3rd in a big class.  Add to this a lot of fun with some great friends and a worthy Supreme Champion in the lovely Farriers Fingerprint  (Spy's Sire)...... safe to say the Breed Show 2013 was really enjoyable. Many thanks to Erain Doran for a keeping an eye on the ponies at home while we were away.

Trenley ??????

Philippa decided to celebrate having had a lovely Breed Show by buying herself a souvenir and here he is a couple of months back. Something a little different, out of a TB mare by Hollybrooke Tinker (sire of several in hand winners/champions at this year's Breed Show) and bred by Trudy Nineham and James Young, he should make a competition pony we all hope! Name to be confirmed. On the short list Trenley Tomorrow, Trenley Time Lord, Trenley Temptation......watch this space :) We hope to have him here at Highfox by the beginning of October if all goes to plan.

Samsons Spy enjoyed an away day at PUK Stoneleigh in August and was a joy coming home with a good 2nd and 3rd from his two classes. Hopefully he will make his début under saddle in the autumn.

Many congratulations to Cath Harrison and the wonderful performer Furzley Charaide Champion and HOYS bound (again) after his WHP win at the New Forest Show and 2nd at the Royal International again!!!

Highfox Soloist  1st and Res Champ Mixed M&M in hand and 1st and Reserve Champion WHP at  Weeton Show 28tth July.

Highfox Soloist stood Reserve Champion WHP and Reserve Champion Veteran Pony at Aldborough and Boroughbridge. Philippa showed him for the first time in hand and he won :)

Gosh July Already!

So news. Well we don't do much showing these days as we have a selection of golden oldies to care for, we have been concentrating on seeing if we can teach an old pony new tricks and having a lot of fun!

Highfox Soloist is proving to be a real trier and definitely the one that got away. Philippa has been doing lots of PC with him and they won their first dressage together with a score of 68%. They were Reserve WHP Champion from lots of classes at the new Yorkshire Game Fair at Newby Hall (he's been Reserve three times on the trot!) and qualified for the Veteran Olympia regionals at their first attempt too. Sol has come home with a ribbon (seven of them red) from each of his eight outings. He tried his heart out and looked after Philippa at their first attempt in the Great Yorkshire Show getting the rather 'different' show including canter transition, diagonal extension and counter canter right; to put the cherry on the cake they were well up the score sheet in this huge class (42 entries). Very pleased :) They will try their first one day event soon and have a play at the Championships over the summer..... :)

Samsons Spy is back in gentle work and as fit as a flea. He has not been at stud this year due to his injury, but has covered Highfox Evensong, who appears safely in foal.

His son Highfox Skyfall is we think going to be liver chestnut and is very smart, should mature at around 14 hands as will his two year old daughter Destiny.

Hope (half sister to Hermione, Destiny and Skyfall) should mature at about11.2!

Philippa and I are happy for at least one of these ponies to move on to excellent permanent homes, so please get in touch if interested. Prices from £700.

Hermione has moved to a new home with our vet, not too far away and is having a lovely time with nine year old Amelia.

May 2013

Highfox Soloist has made a rather nice start to his competitive career qualifying for the Picton Novice Ridden Championship, the NPS Home Produced Ridden, Novice and Open WHP Championships, the Veteran Horse/Pony Champs, plus the usual Equifest and NCPA classes too. He also won his first absolute novice Show Jumping class. So looks like we are going to have quite a bit of fun with him in his twilight years!

Highfox Hermione leaves us this month to join our vet's daughter Amelia in the beautiful Shibden Valley. We will be sorry to see her go, but are hoping she will have a great time in her lovely new home.

Highfox Evensong has been covered by Samsons Spy and we are keeping our fingers crossed that she is in foal. Spy will come back into work at half term and may take part in a few shows in July and August to remind him what its all about.

April  2013 - We are hoping to get Highfox Soloist out and about soon to some fun events; he is still a bit light and nervy sometimes, but on the whole has settled well and loves PC rallies. Thanks to Tim Pearson for helping Philippa get to grips with this lovely, but quirky pony :) His worse trait is inherited from Fijal Maestro an ability to open any bolt .....he keeps letting everyone out including the stallion!

March 2013 - We had a foal due at the end of April, instead it arrived in March along with the worst snow we have had for years! Highfox Skyfall is by Samsons Spy, out of Rainy Day Girl and is shaping up to look like something very special. We hope he will be staying with us. He has already featured in Showing World (with a bit of a strange write up - not guilty!) and is a real character.

Highfox Skyfall above and below the entrance to our track March 24th 2013.

February 2013 - Nightmare weather means that we are doing nothing! However we have treat the ponies to some new transport to cheer ourselves up. With thanks to Equitrek and to Philippa's new sponsors the Innovation and Cohesion Works see http://www.iandcworks.co.uk , who have kindly paid for all modifications to the wagon and the graphics. Thank you.!

January 2013 - Amazing day of news. Little Highfox Hermione and Philippa have not only won the Junior and WHP pony prizes in the NFPB&CS Performance competition, but have been placed an amazing 3rd in the NFPB&CS Elite Pony rankings. Both these are national competitions open to Foresters everywhere. All credit to Philippa who bred, produced and owns this tiny Forester. They have had three years of great fun together and both learnt such a lot. Well done girls!

December - Good news (but with everything crossed) looks like Spy's operation has been a success. He is sound and behaving beautifully on box rest, so hopefully he will be back in work in the spring.

November - An interesting month to say the least.

The good news - Highfox Hermione and Philippa Supreme Champion NNFPSG points competition 2012......their last attempt as Hermione is moving on loan to friends after Christmas; not big entries but a lovely end to their time together. They won the jumping and in hand sections and were placed in all the others.

Highfox Soloist is settling in well and has enjoyed a couple of pleasure rides and is getting the hang of Pony Club. A lot to learn, but a fabulous nature and we are all delighted he's home.

The bad news - Samsons Spy had a freak and minor accident (with huge implications) in the field and is on at least three months box rest after an op on a damaged ligament. He is doing well and behaving beautifully, fingers crossed that he makes a full recovery.

October

Soloist is beginning to settle in well and is enjoying hacking out and having lessons with Tim; a long way to go, but things are looking hopeful. Photos soon.

October 6th - We have a new addition. Highfox Soloist is now home and settling in well. We are looking forward to having some fun with him over the coming months. Photos show him in his new stable....where he was  born.....

September - Looking forward to welcoming home Highfox Soloist Novice WHP - owned and and to be home produced by Philippa Hadwen. Thank you Holly for letting Sol come back home.

Highfox Forever tried her hoof at the Dodson and Horrell Olympia Veteran Ridden and qualified for the regional final in that too. She doesn't appear to have forgotten a thing....not sure the same can be said about her jockey!

August - New Forest Breed Show - as ever we had a lovely break at the New Forest Breed Show, competing against some gorgeous ponies and spending time with lovely people.

Highfox Hermione won a very big riding pony class for the third time, she also stood second in the small pony class in hand and a fantastic second in the Novice Pony ne 138cm ridden, getting the ribbons for the best small pony and owner ridden too. She acquitted herself very well in the Championships and galloped for England.  An unlucky (and unusual) pole in the workers meant that she had to settle for fourth place, but she got her best marks of the year in the conf and performance section ('Thanks' to Uncle Tim! (Pearson)for helping with the flat work). She jumped a lovely round in the Showjumping, to secure a very good third place. A true all rounder.

Highfox Forever only went to the Forest to keep Hermione company  as a 'Happy Hacker. At the 11th hour we decided to take her in the Dodson and Horrell Olympia Veteran class. She went like a train and won, qualifying for the Olympia regional championships. It was very nice of the commentator to point out that Forever has won (and been Champion in most of) all the categories she has contested at the Breed Show (in-hand youngstock, yeld mare, Ridden novice and open, WHP, novice and intermediate, Hunter Pony and now Veteran) since first appearing there as a yearling in 1998 - which was the same year her father Fijal Maestro won the, Ridden Stallion Championship and went on to be Reserve.

Equifest, East of England, Samsons Spy 1st Connie/NF in hand, 1st New Forest stallions and Reserve Champion . Such a good boy!

Samsons Spy, Champion M&M and Reserve Supreme Halifax Show, first time out in 2012.

Two clear rounds for Highfox Hermione,4th and 5th place in two strong WHP classes at the National Pony Society Summer Championships.

 Champion WHP Aire Valley

July - Champion In-Hand, Reserve Ridden, Reserve WHP 1/7/12.

Highfox Hermione has been out to local shows twice now and has won a number of intermediate and open WHP classes. She's also jumped double clears and been placed in the first three in her intermediate and open showjumping classes .... even though she's banned from going 'fast' in the jump off!

May - Highfox Hermione went to her first party of 2012, the NFPB&CS Performance Pony Grading Day, and passed both Grades for showjumping 1 and 2, bravely tackling some very big fences. She has also qualified for the Open WHP Champs at PUK and NCPA.

We are still here!

Continuing to breed lovely, typey, kind New Forest ponies. However we will probably be absent again much of the time from the show ring due to family illness this year.

April - Spring is finally here and Samsons Spy has already had his first mare. Rainy Day Girl is covered too and now running out again with her husband, who is very happy to have her back!

We will take a maximum of two more mares before July if anyone would like to use Samsons Spy. Please contact Diane direct at [email protected] Stud fee this year £200 plus keep.

March - A lovely weekend spent with friends in the New Forest, collecting Philippa and Highfox Hermione's new trophy from the 2011 NFPB&CS Performance Awards at the AGM. Particularly enjoyed meeting Trudy Nineham and James Young's new addition Buckland Dragonslayer still looking good at 19. Wish he was a little closer, would love to use him on some of our mares!
