Pony Blog 2015

Highfox Faith, Supreme Champion Performance Points Competition, NNFPSG 2015; Junior Champion and Versatility Champion; 1st Ridden and 1st In Hand Sections; 2nd Dressage, 3rd Utility and 5th Jumping.

2015 has been the most remarkable year for Highfox Faith and owner, rider, producer 16 year old Philippa Hadwen. Pictured left winning the New Forest Home Produced class at Equifest, where they also won the Hewitt Family Open Ridden Final for New Forest ponies. Faith was Junior winner at the New Forest Breed Show (qualifying for the Junior Ridden at the NPS Champs 2016 and the Young Rider Championship), 2nd in the novice ridden, 4th in the combined training and 5th in the dressage. She was also 2nd in the Home Produced NPS Junior Final at the Summer Champs, 6th in the Open NPS Junior Final, 9th in the 4,5,6 year old final (even with a mistake!) and so very nearly won the Picton Novice Final, only to be robbed of this by a serious fall at the end of her show (caused by ground conditions) having been pulled top of a strong class and having gone beautifully in her individual. Very disappointing, but at least pony and rider survived to compete another day!

Faith was also Champion Ridden, Reserve Champion in Hand and winner of her WHP class at Ryburn Valley's Annual Show and Champion Pony at the lovely Gargrave Show.

Add to this wins in both Intro and Prelim dressage tests and good placings in her first showjumping competitions and you can safely assume that we have had  a great time with this little mare.

Faith's ribbons from the NPS Champs 2015,

Our favourite mare Highfox Forever went to her first show in years and stood overall in-hand champion having won both the veteran and M&M in hand classes; she also went beautifully in the ridden, to stand second twice ... felt she could easily have won. Super day out. She loved it!

Forever in her heyday on the cover of The Native Pony Magazine.

Highfox Felicity made her proper show ring debut at the New Forest Breed Show 2015 and took it all in her stride standing 2nd in the yearlings and 3rd (the only 1,2,3 year old ) in a very large riding pony class. She behaved beautifully, loved her holiday in the Forest and will definitely be retained.

Highfox Hermione has moved to a lovely new home in the New Forest with Izzie King at the Green Cottage Stud. The picture shows her undergoing a pamper session before a lesson. Lucky little girl and spoilt pony!

Trenley Tomorrow is growing into a big boy. We have just gently started lunging him and he is proving to be very trainable. Exciting times.

Pictured right is Highfox Faith winning her first overall Ridden Championship, July 26th 2015 and below on her way back to the box after a long day!

Rider Philippa Hadwen, home produced.

What a lovely season we are having, lots of fun and a good deal of success with our novices.

Highfox Faith has been doing very well in the dressage arena managing scores in the top 60s and low 70s in her Intro and Prelim tests; she was placed in her first Pony Club novice showjumping competitions and has continued her winning ways in hand and under saddle, qualifying for both the Picton and the Leyhills Championships twice. She is a joy to home produce and school and Philippa is doing a great job with her. Pictured at the Native Pony Festival near Newcastle.

Samsons Spy has been busy covering mares, but hopefully will concentrate a little more now on ridden duties, as he makes the transition from novice to open pony.

He stood Reserve Champion at Cheshire County In Hand and was 3rd in his first NPS Open Ridden Class at North Yorks County and 1st in his first BSPS Open Ridden at NCPA North Yorks. An unlucky novicey second strike off, at the Great Yorkshire Show, cost him dear and saw him finishing 8th = out of 38 ponies forward in the HOYS Connies and New Forest, but with the highest conformation marks out of the whole class! He behaved beautifully in the huge White Rose Ring and loved the atmosphere.

Highfox Faith (above) still in her winter woollies and with still a lot of 'making up' to do, made her ridden d├ębut memorable by behaving beautifully and winning the Mixed M&M ridden class at a small, local show on the 17th Jan; she also won the In Hand too.

Faith has also joined Pony Club, attended her first Rally, first jumping clinic and is signed up for the dressage team training over half term ...... she's going to be a busy little pony and have a lot of fun.

Samsons Spy (above) won his first dressage test of 2015 with a very rusty new jockey, ME! Newly joined member of Calderdale Saddle Club, we hope to have a go at lots of different things together his year and also play at a few of the bigger shows, in hand and under saddle, once Spy has got stud duties out of the way.  Stop press Spy won the CSC winter dressage league and has the red, white and blue rosette to prove it.

Highfox Soloist  (above) was third in the Senior Showing and Dressage Ltd's National Achievement Awards with Philippa. We are very surprised, but very pleased. He will be doing less this year, but will still be keeping busy.
