Highfox New Forest Ponies

Pony Blog 2011

Highfox Hermione - Winner of the NFPB&CS WHP Tankard, Pony Performance Competition 2011 - breeder/owner/rider Philippa Hadwen.

Highfox Hermione won the jumping section of the NNFPSG pony performance competition 2011, was Junior Champion (by default this year) and Reserve Supreme overall, repeating her success in 2010. A nice end to the year for both Hermione and Philippa.

 Philippa with Hermione's NNPPSG winnings.

Highfox Hermione's trophies 2011 - quite a good year for a 12 hand Forester. She has turned out to be a bit of a star.

The weather is changing and Forever and Hermione are tackling a pleasure ride a month and loving the change of scenery and pace. The Dales Pony ride was great and Shibden and Districts very long ride, quite a challenge in terms of fitness and my map reading skills.

Can you spot the Foresters? Dales Pony Ride October 2011.

Spy has been turned away due to lack of time, but will be back under saddle in the New Year if all goes to plan.

Highfox Hermione won the 138cm Novice NPS WHP class (the Edwards Cup)at the 2011 New Forest Breed Show, plus the Small Pony Mare and Gelding class and the Kingsbury Love Affair II Trophy (donated in memory of her Grand dam, our foundation broodmare).

She was also 2nd in the Riding Pony Ridden, 3rd in the Junior WHP (highest marks for jumping), 6th in the Novice Ridden and helped Philippa come 4th in a huge young handler class. In addition they won the best pony under 128cm rosettes in all of their ridden/WHP classes.Highfox Hope (Samsons Spy x Highfox Finale) is going to mature under twelve hands and might be going GREY!!; a tiny, Fingerprint grandchild. Philippa wants  to show her next year, wonder what the judges will make to her? Section A perhaps? A grey small Dartmoor? Should be entertaining if nothing else!

The drugs for her septicaemia resulted in her growing a ridiculous long, course coat. She was wilting in the heat and very sorry for herself, so we had to clip her. She was clipped standing in the field, no headcollar and stood like a rock. She is now a happy girl again, is very much loved and is going to be a child's dream pony.

Well done to Helen Bell and Highfox Faith (Samsons Spy x Rainy Day Girl) on their win on their show ring début, at the Halifax Agricultural Show and on taking home the trophy for the best M&M Large Breed. They also won a red ribbon at NPS 4, although sadly very few Foresters were forward.

Faith at home early spring 2011 looking unbelievably like her well known sister Highfox Evensong.

Highfox Hermione was second in the Junior WHP, jumping one of only two clears, in a big class at the NPS Summer Champs at Malvern; she also took part in the evening performance for the first time (Philippa's first time too)taking the fifth place rosette in the junior M&M large breeds ridden.

A photo from Lauren O'Hagan (now also the proud owner of Highfox Hallelujah) of the Forest Bred pony Mallards Wood Oliver that she bought from us several years ago. Great to see him looking so well and happy.

Highfox Evensong has moved on to Cath Harrison across in Lancashire where she will do some dressage and ridden work and then be a wife for Furzley Charaide. Update: all going well for Evensong in her new home and Charaide has excelled himself by standing 2nd in the 138cm WHP at the Royal International Horse Show. Next stop HOYS - update he was third!

Highfox Hermione has won four out of five WHP classes so far (from five outings) qualified for Equifest, PUK and NCPA as a M&M, SHP, Riding Pony, Performance Pony and Working Hunter pony although she won't compete at the finals. She has also qualified for Malvern NPS Champs as a WHP and she will venture there for a play.

Highfox Hermione and Philippa July 2011

Samsons Spy is now ridden away and enjoying himself. He is still very immature, but attended two shows in July and August just for experience and shown straight out of the field. He behaved beautifully (a bit too laid back!) was a joy to show and was placed on each occasion. Looking forward to trying him under saddle in the autumn.

Highfox Destiny has gone black/brown and is looking very smart indeed.

Highfox Hallellujah (pictured below with his new friends) has found a lovely new home with Lauren O'Hagan in Lancashire. We will miss him but are delighted that he has found such a great place.

He is talking to Malardswood Oliver an ex Highfox resident.

Just heard that Furzley Charaide has already qualified for HOYS and the Royal International WHP 2011.  Well done to all connections!
